Dyer Brown served as the designer and Architect of Record for a tenant fit out of Time Out Market (TOM), a Time Out Magazine-inspired food and cultural market featuring some of the city’s top chefs and best restaurants. The team brought to bear its collective experience and acumen to achieve a design that would celebrate the historic warehouse building’s original architecture while serving primarily as a backdrop for featuring the real stars: the food. Dyer Brown’s scope for the project included celebrating elements such as the original, restored columns and walls, as well as the massive double-height volume. The market is located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood and holds 15 food vendors, two bars, a demo kitchen for cooking classes, a retail shop, and an outdoor patio. The interior design introduces monolithic stone slabs with mitered corners and other features that enhance the beauty of the industrial interior, along with finishes like suspended wood ceilings and deep green subway tiles to add warmth. The Dyer Brown team also collaborated with numerous consultants to facilitate securing 17 separate operating permits, a challenge unique to the TOM concept.
