Dyer Brown was engaged as an architect and interior designer to design Time Out Market on the first floor of a former Sears warehouse located near Fenway Park in Boston. With locations around the globe, Time Out Market is a food and cultural market featuring some of the city’s top chefs and restaurants. Our team brought its collective experience and acumen in designing both restaurants and large public spaces to achieve a design that would celebrate the historic Sears warehouse building’s original architecture while serving primarily as a backdrop for featuring the real stars: the food. Our design celebrates elements such as the original, restored columns and walls and the massive double-height volume. The market is located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood and holds 15 food vendors, two bars, a demo kitchen for cooking classes, a retail shop, and a large outdoor patio/seating area. The interior design introduces monolithic stone slab counters that enhance the beauty of the industrial interior, along with suspended wood ceilings and deep green subway tiles to add warmth and texture. The Dyer Brown led a team of consultants to facilitate securing 17 independent operating permits, a challenge unique to the concept.
